The cow was examined in the pasture for coliform mastitis. She was unable to stand and had fever, hypokalemia, mild hypocalcemia and hypophosphatemia. After antibiotic treatment and an IV drip, she spent the whole night in the Air-cow cushion. The next day she was standing upright in the device and moving on her own.

After a difficult calving, the cow developed obturator paralysis combined with milk fever. She stayed in the cushion for four days, until she was able to stand on her own again.
